Welcome to the FirstClass® Intranet Client. This document describes minimum requirements for the FirstClass Intranet Client for Mac OS. It also provides an overview of FirstClass Intranet Client features.
Requirements
• Macintosh System 7.1 (or later)
• Minimum 4 MB available RAM (6 MB for Power Macintosh)
• Minimum 6 MB free disk space
Installation
To install the FirstClass Intranet Client for Mac OS:
1. Download the FirstClass Intranet Client for Mac OS from the SoftArc web site. The files created during this process are placed on your desktop (these can safely be deleted after a successful installation).
2. Double-click Install Intranet Client and follow the prompts.
3. Select the installation location. By default the folder FirstClass Intranet Client will be placed in the root of your current drive. If you wish, you can use Switch Disk and Select Folder to change the drive and folder in which it will be placed.
4. A default configuration has been preselected. You can customize your installation by selecting or deselecting components. (For information about a component, click the information button beside the component.)
5. Click Install.
6. Click Quit.
Features of the FirstClass Intranet Client
The FirstClass Intranet Client has all of the conferencing, file transfer, and e-mail functions of previous FirstClass products plus:
• Table manager with enhanced views of file lists, grouping and sorting features
• Multiconnect allowing you to connect multiple times to the same server (with the same or different accounts) or to multiple servers
• Support for Internet protocols mailto and fcp (a protocol recognized by your FirstClass Intranet Client allowing you to create links between FirstClass Intranet Servers and to objects on your server)
• Create links to the World Wide Web
• Document editor enhancements and new spell checking features
• A user definable preferences system that supports custom views
• Ability to apply tiled textures to FirstClass forms, documents and file lists
• All mailbox and conference lists are now fully threaded
Documentation
SoftArc distributes documentation electronically, in .pdf format. You can use Adobe Acrobat Reader to view, search, or print the documentation. Acrobat Reader is a free application that you can download from SoftArc or Adobe.
We recommend that you download Using the FirstClass Intranet Client from SoftArc. Online Help is also available when you are using the application.

• You can now save a FirstClass document as a local text file. Follow this procedure:
1. Select a document to be saved in a file list.
2. Choose File -> Download.
3. Choose a location to download in the dialog and change the name if you wish.
4. Click Save.
• You can now create a FirstClass document from a local text file. Follow this procedure:
1. Make a file list window such as your mailbox the front most window.
2. Choose File -> Insert File.
3. Choose a text file to be made into a document.
4. Click Open.
• The Image Message form has been added to the standard forms. To use this form, click in the Image field and then choose File -> Insert File to add a graphic in JPEG, GIF, or BMP format. If your graphic is larger than the space on the form, only part of the graphic will be displayed. You need the appropriate conversion file in your Plugins folder to see the image in any sent or received message.
